This year’s Cedars Juried Show was presented and generously underwritten by Jan and Lawrence Farrington and Butler Snow, LLP. The exhibition consists of 84 works of art representing 71 artists from 27 different cities across the state of MS.  Chosen from an entry round of over 300 works representing over 100 artists, the eight annual show and exhibition is open to the public through September 27.

This year’s winners are:

In the  Painting Category – First Place, Debbie Myers of Oxford, MS for Delta Church; Second Place, Rick Anderson of Clinton, MS for August Rain; Third Place, Paul Fayard of Clinton, MS for Doubly Cool; and Honorable Mention, Jerrod Partridge of Ocean Springs, MS for Fabric on Three Stools. In the Drawing Category – First Place, Mike Wharton of Jackson, MS for Uplifters; and Honorable Mention, David Taylor of Greenwood, MS for Brick Street.

In the Photography Category – First Place, Becky Harris of Vicksburg, MS for Repetition; Second Place, David Gulledge of Raymond, MS for Just After Two; and Honorable Mention, Dean Harris of Vicksburg, MS for Knocking on Heaven’s Door.

In the Mixed Media Category – First Place, Rick Anderson of Clinton, MS for Take the A Train; Second Place, Melanie Mitchell Tucker of Greenville, MS for The Battle for Lady Amherst; and Honorable Mention, Vicki Murray of Grace, MS for Multnomah Falls.

 In the Sculpture Category – First Place, Rabbi Matt Dreffin of Jackson, MS for CMPRSSN; and Honorable Mention, Anna Nations of Brandon, MS for The Joneses.

 The Eighth Annual Cedars Juried Show and Exhibition is part of Fondren Renaissance’s Four Seasons of The Cedars Visual and Performing Arts Series and can be viewed in the Cedars Gallery open Tuesday through Friday from 10am to 4pm at 4145 Old Canton Road.  For more information, fondren.org.
