Symphony at Sunset
Jackson’s most popular social event is held on the beautiful grounds of The Cedars each September.
Over 2,000 people gather with blankets, chairs and picnic baskets to enjoy the incredible sound of the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra. Performing under the canopy of 200+-year-old cedars, this event, like all Fondren Renaissance events, is free and open to the public. Themes of the concerts change yearly so that a wide range of musical offerings can be experienced by the general public who would not normally get to experience the ticketed price of Mississippi’s largest and oldest symphony orchestra.
The 2017 honorees were former Mississippi Governor William WInter and Mrs. Elise Winter.
Presented and generously underwritten for over a decade by Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi, this evening is also made possible by many private and corporate donors whose desire it is to bring the arts into the public domain for all to enjoy. September 20, 2018
