TIGER Listening Session is Thu. June 9
On Thursday, June 9, the City of Jackson will hold a listening session for information on the upcoming TIGER Grant project for North State Street.
This meeting will be held at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church from 4-7pm. The church is located at 621 Duling Avenue.
The purpose of the meeting is to bring awareness to constituents about the grant’s plan to enhance rideability, safety and aesthetics of the roadway system along North State Street.
The $16.5 million Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) grant is from the U.S. Department of Transportation.
With this money, comprehensive improvements to North State Street, from Hartfield Avenue to Shepphard Road, will be funded. According to the proposal submitted by the City, the “Greening the Gateways” project will integrate environmentally sustainable multimodal transportation improvements within the City of Jackson, Mississippi connecting residents, commuters, and tourists to economic centers of the city. This includes water and sewer repair, paving, drainage improvements, ADA accessible sidewalks, lightning, landscape, bicycle accessibility and more.
