Fondren Now Has an Audio Tour!
Stops include an overview of the neighborhood, the Strip, Woodland Hills Shopping Center, Duling School, the corner of Old Canton and Duling Avenue, Morgan Place, Fondren Corner and “the point” – where Old Canton Road meets State Street in the southern part of the neighborhood. The eight parts can be listened to in any order.
Listeners will learn more about Fondren’s rich history as Jackson’s original suburb. The tour also provides insight into notable homes in the area, including The Cedars, Jackson’s oldest residential structure, now used as a gallery and gathering space and owned by Fondren Renaissance.
“We are thrilled to be associated with Craig and this exciting new project,” says Jim Wilkirson, Fondren Renaissance Executive Director. “I’m seeing so many possibilities with this and new ways to help people discover Fondren.”
A second version of the tour will launch later this year to include audio interviews from current and former residents of Fondren, telling their stories of memories of the neighborhood.
