Fondren Renaissance brings a special show to this year’s 2016 Four Seasons of The Cedars Visual and Performing Arts Series that recognizes past achievements.

Opening May 5, “Best of Show” will feature past winners from the past four years’ Cedars Juried Art Exhibitions. Included are Janice Dean, Paul Fayard, Laurilyn Fortner, John Gibson, Tom Joynt, Benny Melton, Heidi Pitre, Jean Seymour, Kim Whitt, Mike Wharton and Bebe Wolfe with special showing by past jurors Jere Allen, Bill Dunlap and Alan Flattmann.

The evening will also kick off the call for submissions for this fall’s 5th annual juried show, coming September 1.

The reception on May 5  is free and open to the public. A portion of all of the proceeds from sales of artists’ work goes to the continuing maintenance and restoration efforts of The Cedars, Jackson’s oldest residential home circa 1840, celebrating 175 years in 2016.

The Cedars is located at 4145 Old Canton Road and parking is conveniently available across the street at St. Andrew’s Lower School. A security crossing guard is available during opening receptions.

The spring exhibition will hang through May 31, 2016. Gallery hours are Tue – Fri, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For more information, call Kay Holloway at 601.366.5552.
