Education in Fondren

Boyd Elementary School and the Fondren Renaissance Foundation have enjoyed a partnership since 2002 through the Jackson Public Schools “Adopt-A-School” program. The foundation has donated a painting of Medgar Evers, replaced aging carpet with beautifully stained floors, and annually donates supplies and services to teachers and students.  More info on the good things happening at Boyd...

St. Andrews Episcopal Lower School is located on the school’s south campus at 4120 Old Canton Road in Fondren and is one of the Jackson metro area’s premier private institutions, serving Pre-K through Grade 4.

St. James’ School is located at 3921 Oak Ridge Drive. It is a five day a week, licensed educational center operating Monday through Friday for children who are one year through the Pre-Kindergarten Year. This program is a balanced educational system with a focus on following the child and encouraging the exploration of preschool concepts necessary for the success in any elementary educational environment. The school’s environment will promote and support the spiritual, emotional, social, cognitive, and physical needs of the young child.

St. Richard Catholic School, located at 100 Holly Drive in Fondren, is an extraordinary private school serving Pre-K4 through Grade 6. St. Richard has been selected by the Mississippi Arts Commission as one of its Whole School initiatives, with a concentration on a special arts curriculum.

The Education Center
The Education Center School has been located in the historic Fondren District since 1964. Our diploma-granting school is a recognized pioneer and leader in education and the frontrunner in nontraditional schools. ECS offers small class academic instruction full-time for grades 1-12.  We provide a personalized instructional program for the exceptional and twice-exceptional student, in which we assist students in using their strengths to correct their deficiencies, encourage emotional well-being, and emphasize the development of character, citizenship, and universal values.

ECS creates an effective team that will enhance the learning experience by including parents, guardians, teachers, counselors, physicians and other supports in each child’s education.  We also offer summer school courses, individual tutoring, afternoon/evening classes, ACT/SAT preparation, educational evaluations and assessments, counseling, and learning/study skills development. ECS is regionally accredited by Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS).
