Boyd Elementary School

A new piano is dedicated to long-time school supporter, Dr. Helen Barnes

The Fondren Renaissance Foundation has been an “Adopt – A – School Partner” with Boyd Elementary School since 2002. In that time, the Foundation has provided supplies, uniforms, meals, snacks, equipment, renovations and numerous volunteer hours for the only public school within Fondren.

Fondren Renaissance Foundation has been instrumental in providing Boyd Elementary School, our adopted and neighborhood public school, with badly needed resources.  In the past few years, FRF has removed old, dirty and dangerous carpet and refinished the floors of the hallways and various classrooms.  Additionally, FRF purchased new auditorium stage drapes and a piano necessary to continue the music programming of the school.

Art instruction is not able to be offered in the local school system due to a lack of funding and FRF pays for local Jackson artists to offer a week-long art camp for Boyd students.  Also, twenty students are selected to attend (at no cost to them) an additional art camp, held during the summer at The Cedars.

Random House’s Magic Tree House Tour stopped at Boyd.

In 2012, FRF, in partnership with Lemuria Books, took Random House’s The Magic Tree House Book Series national touring company to Boyd Elementary School to celebrate the kick off of summer reading. FRF also provided each third grader with a hard copy from the Magic Tree House book series to encourage reading throughout the summer months.  All fourth graders enjoyed an art camp and all fifth graders received a copy of “Bud, Not Buddy,” one of the books on the required reading list for students entering sixth grade in the Jackson public schools.

The Fondren Renaissance Foundation is proud of its commitment to Boyd Elementary School.  We look forward to a lasting relationship as grade school children throughout Fondren are educated.
